Biography: I’ve been teaching for six years. From a young age I wanted to be a teacher because I wanted to be able to change the course of events. Though the notion may be a little arrogant, I believe that one man/woman can change the future of the entire world, and I want that man to be me. I figure the best way to do that is by interacting with the future presidents, artists, engineers, actors, and other professionals who will go off to provide amazing contributions to the world. Since the only way that we are able to change the world in a meaningful way is through communication and collaboration I became an English teacher. I believe very strongly that what others have scribbled is valuable and that it is our job to figure out what they meant in that moment of inspiration when they bled through a pen onto the page.

I am also very interested in what it means to be a literate person in the 21st century. We have access to more information at will in a handheld device than people used to in their entire lives. It is still important to know information, but it is becoming increasingly important to learn how to manage information in a meaningful way. I want my students/colleagues to look at the wealth of information at their fingertips in constructive ways and engage in lifelong learning.

Instructional design is a way for me to expand my impact to a larger audience by bringing learning online for the teachers/professionals in my district.

CJ Coulter ude.unedlaw|retluoc.aihtnyc#ude.unedlaw|retluoc.aihtnyc
Biography: I am a librarian at an urban community college. I am an older student who has tried to keep up with technology, especially applications that can be used for instruction and learning. I find student really like audio and video formats of what has been traditionally print information, and that is where I would like sharpen my skills. My college is starting a new distance education department, and I would like to ensure that the library is a strong componenet for online resources and for instruction on using these resources. We also have not had a faculty development department in three years, so whatever we learn, we have learned on our own and or by sharing with others. Development is probably my weakest area, and analysis and evaluation are in my prior experience. But, I would also like to explore different ways to evaluate student progress rather than the usual methods of quizes and surveys.
